Armor Piercing Rounds
Your Bullets have a chance to become unavoidable, piercing through enemies and ignoring their Bullet Resistance.
Passive — works automatically once bought.
Armor Piercing Rounds is a Tier 4 weapon item that gives a chunk of your bullets a chance to turn unavoidable — they punch straight through enemies and ignore Bullet Resistance entirely. It's the gun carry's answer to durability: once the enemy frontline is stacking Bullet Armor and resist, this is the slot that keeps your DPS landing at full value. It builds out of High-Velocity Rounds, so it carries the bullet velocity and weapon damage you'd expect from a late-game power piece.
When to buy
Treat it as a late-game luxury slot for a gun-DPS carry, not an early buy. You want it once the enemy team is actively stacking Bullet Resist — Bullet Armor, resist auras, tanky frontliners like Abrams or Mo & Krill — and your shots are starting to feel like they bounce off. The proc only matters if you put a lot of bullets downrange, so it pays off hardest on fast-firing carries (Wraith, Infernus, Haze, Vindicta) who already win the gun fight and just need their damage to ignore the armor. If the enemy is squishy and not buying resist, the slot is better spent on raw weapon damage or fire rate — this is a counter piece, not a default power spike.
Tricks & counters
Two things make it more than a stat stick. The pierce lets a procced bullet pass through whoever's in front and tag the target behind — handy against body-blocking frontliners and for clipping a lined-up wave plus the hero behind it. And "unavoidable" means those shots can't be dodged, so it cuts through evasion-style bullet avoidance. One big caveat: when the proc fires it just ignores resist, so a target you've pushed into negative Bullet Resist with shred items is treated as plain zero on those shots — you lose the bonus your shred would have given. Build this with raw weapon damage and fire rate, not with resist reduction. Also note that flat bullet immunity (Metal Skin) still negates the hit — unavoidable stops a dodge, it doesn't beat an immunity.
Is Armor Piercing Rounds worth it?
On a fire-rate gun carry against a team stacking Bullet Resist, yes — it keeps your damage landing through Bullet Armor and tanky frontliners and adds velocity plus weapon damage on top. Into a squishy enemy team that never buys resist, the 6400 souls is better spent on raw damage or fire rate.
Does it stack with Bullet Resist shred items?
Not well. When the proc fires it ignores the target's resist outright, so any negative resist you built with shred items gets treated as zero on those shots and you actually lose damage. Run it with weapon-damage scaling, not with resist reduction.
