It's a frontline weapon pickup for close-range gun heroes who already stand in the open and trade hits — the catch is you have to survive long enough to cash in the stacks.
When to buy
Berserker is a mid-to-late weapon power spike, best slotted once you already have some sustain. The bonus only matters if you can actually live in the fire, so buy it after a lifesteal or healing item, not before. It shines on brawler gun heroes who fight at close range and stay engaged through teamfights. Skip it on poke and snipe heroes who never take sustained damage, and on squishy carries who get bursted before the stacks ramp.
How it works
Stacks build while you're taking damage and decay once you're out of fire, so the payoff is in long teamfights and drawn-out duels — not poking from cover. Pair it with sustain (bullet or spirit lifesteal, Restorative Locket, a healing source) so you outlast the ramp and turn the bonus into kills. Heroes who self-damage, like Lady Geist, feed the stacks for free and keep them topped up.
Is Berserker worth it?
For gun-brawler heroes who live in sustained fights, yes — it's one of the most-picked late weapon items because the longer the brawl, the harder your gun hits. For poke or burst heroes who never sit in the fire, you'll rarely max the stacks; spend those souls elsewhere.
