Express Shot
Your next attack will fire twice in quick succession with increased damage and velocity. This attack consumes extra ammo.
Passive — works automatically once bought.
Express Shot is a Tier 3 weapon upgrade from High-Velocity Rounds whose passive loads your next shot into a double-tap: two bullets back to back with bonus damage and bullet velocity, on a cooldown. It's a burst-opener item — it pays off most on guns that fire one heavy shot, where doubling the alpha rips a big chunk out of someone's health bar the moment the trade starts. The catch is the proc eats extra ammo, so it asks you to pick your moment instead of spraying it away.
When to buy
Slot it on heroes who win with a fat opening shot rather than sustained spray — snipers, bows and shotgun-style guns like Vindicta, Grey Talon, Abrams or Wraith, where firing twice is a near-double hit out of nowhere. The extra bullet velocity also makes long-range openers easier to land, so it doubles as a poke upgrade. It's a mid-game weapon pickup off High-Velocity Rounds. Skip it on fast continuous-fire carries: doubling one of a stream of small bullets is a fraction of the value a charged or shotgun shot gets out of the same proc.
Tricks
The proc rides your next shot after a quiet window, so the whole game is choosing what that shot hits. Don't burn it on a creep — hold fire as you peek a fight and put the double-tap into a hero as your opener. Because it charges up while you're not shooting, it's naturally ready at the start of an engagement and gone once you've emptied into someone, so the value is front-loaded into the first trade. Mind your clip: the doubled shot pulls extra rounds, so on small-magazine guns pair it with Extended Magazine or Titanic Magazine, or be ready to reload right after the burst. If you keep liking it, it upgrades into Reverb Rounds for an even nastier opener.
Is Express Shot worth it?
On big-alpha guns that open fights with one heavy shot, yes — doubling that opener is a huge burst and the velocity helps it land. On fast continuous-fire heroes it's weak; the proc only doubles a single bullet, so take raw fire-rate items instead.
Why does it use so much ammo?
The doubled shot fires two bullets, so it pulls extra rounds from your clip every time it procs. On small-magazine guns that can leave you near a reload after one burst — slot a magazine item alongside it, or be ready to reload right after you fire the opener.
