Silencer is the big anti-caster weapon item: its passive makes your gunfire chip a target's outgoing Spirit damage, while the active turns your bullets into an on-hit silence for a few seconds so you can hard-lock a key hero's abilities. You slot it against teams carried by ability combos rather than guns, where shutting down one caster decides the fight.
How to use it
The active doesn't fire a silence on its own — it just makes your bullets apply silence for a few seconds, so pop it as you open up and keep your crosshair glued to the hero you want shut down. Because it's a weapon item it rewards hitscan and high-fire-rate heroes who can hold aim on one person. Silence stops new casts but won't cancel an ability already channeling or mid-animation, so use it pre-emptively to deny the combo or the escape rather than as a panic button after they commit. Time the lock with your team's dive — silence the enemy initiation or get-out ability right as you go in. Even without the active, the passive Spirit-damage reduction quietly softens a caster's bursts just by shooting them.
