Throw a stake that tethers enemies to the location where the stake lands. Enemy movement is restricted to the length of the tether.
Leap into the air and fly. While in flight your weapon deals bonus spirit damage and your items have increased range.
Your crow familiar deals impact damage, reduces their bullet resist and applies a bleed that deals damage based on the target's current health.
Use your scoped rifle to fire a powerful shot over long distances. Deal only partial damage until fully charged after 1s of being scoped. Does bonus damage to enemies with less than 50% health remaining. Landing a killing blow on a player with Assassinate grants you bonus weapon damage.
Vindicta is Deadlock's flying sniper assassin — a global skirmisher who wants to bleed the map dry, not brawl. She angles in with Flight, opens on a target with Crow plus her long-range rifle, then executes low squishies with Assassinate to snowball off early pickoffs. She's a gun-first hybrid: the rifle is her bread and butter while Spirit powers Crow, Assassinate, and Flight's bonus damage. The client rates her easy, but the community disagrees — her aim, positioning, and snowball dependence make her a high-ceiling pick that feels useless from behind.
Lane like a normal carry first: last-hit and deny soul orbs, hit headshots for the bonus damage, and don't get caught grounded. Her early edge is Flight off-angles — drop into the adjacent lane before enemies have bought Knockdown, land a Crow plus a couple of clean rifle shots, and grab a pickoff to start the snowball. Don't burn Stake to chase; save it to pin a secured kill or to peel a diver off you. Buy a little Spirit and an extra charge so Crow already bites and you can fly more often. First buys lean Extra Charge (her highest-pick item), Extra Spirit, Headshot Booster, and Restorative Shot for lane sustain. Your power spike is the moment Assassinate can one-shot a low squishy through its under-threshold bonus damage.
This is Vindicta's window. Roam to lanes and fights with Flight and open every engage with Crow — its bleed scales off the target's current HP and shreds their bullet resist, so hitting a full-health target hurts most and every follow-up rifle shot lands harder. Tether the key target with Stake, hose them down to roughly 50% with the rifle, then land the fully-charged Assassinate execute. Hunt cross-map pickoffs to build number advantages before objectives instead of standing in the brawl. Core mid items are Long Range for her signature damage steroid, Improved Spirit to scale Crow and Assassinate, Fleetfoot so you reload while kiting, and Slowing Hex to glue a target into the Stake-and-execute window.
Late, you're a back-line executioner. Set up on a high, hard-to-reach angle and delete the enemy carry or support at the very start of a fight, then use Assassinate as global pressure on retreating or objective-contesting enemies. The Urn-to-KotH rework actually helps her — you can poke and contest the capture circle from a safe perch. If you get grounded or fall behind you drop off fast, so itemize escape and anti-CC and never over-extend into a team holding anti-air. Burst Fire is the key hybrid spike inside the Stake window, Headhunter and Sharpshooter feed her snipe identity, and Boundless Spirit plus Mystic Reverb round out the weapon-and-spirit profile.
Air execute chain: Flight to get the angle, Stake to tether and slow their fire rate, Crow FIRST for max bleed and bullet-resist shred, sustained rifle to under ~50%, then the Assassinate finisher — and a kill grants bonus weapon damage, so it snowballs. Crow is always the opener because its bleed reads current HP; maxed, it ricochets and prioritizes heroes after its first hit lands on one. The classic trap is Stake plus Alchemical Fire from above, with Echo Shard re-locking them in the fire for nearly the full duration — bait out their Reactive Barrier first. While airborne, weave diagonally (vertical AND horizontal) so bullets and skillshots whiff. And remember Stake is team setup too: it's a hard anchor that lets Abrams, Warden, or Infernus land guaranteed follow-up.
Extra Charge is near-mandatory for Crow and Flight uptime; Extra Spirit and Mystic Burst make Crow bite immediately, Headshot Booster rewards your rifle taps, and Restorative Shot keeps you in lane through poke.
Long Range is her damage-at-range signature, Improved Spirit scales Crow and Assassinate, Fleetfoot lets you reload while kiting, Slowing Hex sets up the execute, and Bullet Armor keeps the squishy sniper alive when dived.
Burst Fire is the big hybrid spike inside the Stake window, Headhunter and Sharpshooter scale her snipe kills, and Boundless Spirit plus Mystic Reverb power Crow, Assassinate, and overall survivability.
Debuff Reducer is your answer to Knockdown and silences (her hardest counters), Majestic Leap patches her missing horizontal escape, Ethereal Shift bails you when dived, and Alchemical Fire plus Echo Shard build the Stake-trap. Fortitude rounds out survivability vs burst.
Is Vindicta good for beginners?
Her kit is mechanically simple, but the community treats her as not newbie-friendly. She lives and dies by aim, positioning, and snowball — a rough start can leave her feeling useless, and she has no horizontal escape once grounded.
Is Vindicta a weapon or spirit hero?
Hybrid, gun-first. The rifle is her core with items like Long Range, Burst Fire, Headhunter, and Sharpshooter, backed by a Spirit spine (Improved/Boundless Spirit, Mystic Reverb) that powers Crow and Assassinate. Full-gun late is fine; full-spirit 'Medicta' is a niche support flex.
How do I deal with Knockdown and getting grounded?
It's her number-one counter. Carry Debuff Reducer, add Majestic Leap for horizontal escape, and keep Ethereal Shift or Warp Stone for the dive. Pick your Flight windows and never fly into anti-air heroes like Graves, McGinnis, or Victor.
How do I play Assassinate well?
Treat it as an execute, not an opener. Bleed and rifle the target down with Crow first, then land the fully-charged shot under the bonus-damage HP threshold. Secure the kill for the weapon-damage stacking and use it as global poke on retreating enemies.
A victim of John Hathorne during the Salem Witch Trials, Vindicta got a second chance of life when her spirit was brought back to the mortal plane during the first Maelstrom (the event that introduced the supernatural to the public at large).
Waging a one ghost war against "The Friends of Humanity", a neo inquisition formed by Hathorne's descendants; Vindicta looks to keep the supernatural safe from Hathorne's ilk, and she isn't afraid to stack as many bodies as needed to do it.
