Conjure a dragon that appears at the target location before flying forward, dealing Spirit Damage and leaving a burning path in its trail.
Grant an ally a Combat Barrier. While the barrier holds, they gain Bonus Weapon Damage.
Target an area with latent magic, applying slow. The magic detonates after a delay, dealing Spirit Damage and applying Immobilize.
Release a wave of spectral knights and steeds that charge across the entire city, Healing allies and dealing Spirit Damage to enemies. The strength of the Heal and Spirit Damage is amplified as the knights travel further.
Paige, the Bookbinder, is a spirit support-enchanter who doubles as a CC nuker. She keeps your core alive with Plot Armor barriers that also buff their weapon damage, sets up kills with Captivating Read's delayed root, and swings fights she isn't even standing in with the map-wide Rallying Charge. Complexity 1 with a very forgiving floor — only the lockdown combo raises the ceiling — so she's a clean pick for new players who want to win lanes and close games rather than hard-carry them.
Paige is a strong lane bully despite being support. Her gun, Chapter's End, is a long-range projectile (35 per shot, 7000 range) — buy High-Velocity Rounds and use it purely to poke and deny souls from a safe distance. Shield yourself with Plot Armor to win every trade, since the barrier hands you bonus weapon damage while it holds. Drop Bookwyrm across the wave for the burning DoT trail to control creeps and zone the enemy off the orbs. The highest win-rate opener is Plot Armor → Plot Armor → Bookwyrm to front-load the laning spike; if you're playing for teamfight lockdown instead, rush Captivating Read. Restorative Locket sustain is so strong you rarely have to base.
This is your power window. With cooldown reduction and a reliable slow source you start chaining Captivating Read into Bookwyrm on grouped enemies and rotating to gank side lanes. Hunt early picks: slow or lock a target, drop the delayed detonation so the root can't be dodged, and let your team collapse on the immobilized enemy. The reworked Urn capture circle is perfect for you — the Bookwyrm trail plus Captivating Read are made for zoning a king-of-the-hill point. Keep Plot Armor on whoever is diving in so they trade up while you poke from the back.
Full teamfight enchanter-nuker. Stack Plot Armor with Divine Barrier on your carry to eat a dive — that's two shields plus the weapon-damage buff turning your protected core into a kill threat. Open fights with Vortex Web to clump enemies into Captivating Read's root, then layer Bookwyrm and amp everything with spirit-amp stacking. Save Rallying Charge for cross-map use: cast it from far away so the spectral knights travel the full distance for peak heal and damage amp, swinging an objective you're nowhere near. Base HP is down 10 for everyone this patch, so your spirit burst closes kills faster than ever.
Core lockdown: Captivating Read (slow) → Vortex Web (pull and clump) → Bookwyrm's burning trail detonating on the bunched group → optional Rallying Charge, with Alchemical Fire layered on top for stacked ground DoT. Guarantee the root by hitting a slippery target with Knockdown or Slowing Hex first so Captivating Read's delayed immobilize is undodgeable. Echo Shard double-casts let you back-to-back Captivating Read for a perma-root window, or twin Bookwyrm to one-shot a clumped wave. Amp stacking — Mystic Vulnerability plus Escalating Exposure on your trail and AoE ticks — ramps the multiplier each tick, scaling the ult and every follow-up.
Win the lane outright: High-Velocity Rounds makes your projectile deny and poke safely, Extra Spirit and Mystic Burst power up Bookwyrm and Captivating Read trades, and Restorative Locket gives busted sustain so you never base. Sprint Boots keep you mobile for peel and rotations.
Spike into your combo window. Mystic Vulnerability multiplies every ability and ult tick, Improved Spirit is your scaling backbone, Slowing Hex is the active lock that guarantees Captivating Read lands, and Compress Cooldown lets you spam barriers and CC. Healbane cuts enemy sustain in the burst meta.
Turn fights into deletions. Vortex Web pulls enemies into Captivating Read and Bookwyrm, Echo Shard double-casts the root or the burst, Knockdown gives long-range lockdown on anyone, Escalating Exposure ramps amp on every DoT tick, and Boundless Spirit tops off all your stats.
Versus slippery dive heroes — Victor, Drifter, Sinclair — go survival. Divine Barrier stacks with Plot Armor for a clutch carry save, Enchanter's Emblem buffs whoever you barrier, Indomitable and Diviner's Kevlar keep you alive when focused, and Greater Expansion widens Captivating Read and Knockdown so the dive can't sidestep your CC.
Is Paige good for beginners?
Yes. She's complexity 1 — a forgiving support with self-shielding and a strong lane. The only hard part is the Vortex Web into Captivating Read clump-and-root combo, and you can win plenty of games before you master it.
Is Paige a weapon or spirit hero?
Spirit, firmly. Chapter's End just wins the lane through poke and denies, but every meta item and all of her scaling — Bookwyrm, Captivating Read, the barriers, the ult — runs off spirit power and CC.
What should I max first on Paige?
It depends on the lane. Top win-rate laners open Plot Armor twice plus Bookwyrm for the laning spike; the teamfight build prioritizes Captivating Read (and Bookwyrm) for lockdown. Pick by what your lane needs.
How do I play Rallying Charge well?
Cast it from far across the map. The heal and damage amplification grow the further the knights travel, so it's a cross-map save or fight swing, never a point-blank nuke.
The daughter of a rare book dealer, Paige grew up in a loving home that prioritized kindness, magic, and storytelling. But while Paige took naturally to her parents' values, her little brother Bryce did not.
A rebellious teen, Bryce resented not only his family’s saccharine attitude, but also their refusal to let him dabble in magics that they deemed too dangerous. Paige tried everything she could think of to keep him out of trouble, but like most teenagers, the more his big sister tried to tell him what was best for him, the more he turned away.
