Drain health from nearby enemies, dealing Spirit DPS and Healing for a portion of the damage dealt.

Abrams has the bulk and sustain to lead from the front, often running into the middle of his foes and watching them scatter. If his enemies waste their fire on him, his backline teammates can lay out damage with impunity.

Drain health from nearby enemies, dealing Spirit DPS and Healing for a portion of the damage dealt.
Charge forward, Pulling enemies you hit. Pushing a hero into a wall applies Stun. If you collide with a hero you move faster during your charge.
Gain bonus defensive attributes. Taking damage grants temporary Regen for a portion of the damage taken.
Leap high into the air before crashing into the ground, dealing Spirit Damage and applying Stun.
Abrams is the bull-headed frontline tank-brawler: he dives the middle of the enemy team, eats their cooldowns and refuses to die while his backline cleans up. He wins by closing distance, pinning a target into a wall and standing in the brawl where Siphon Life and Infernal Resilience keep healing him. Damage sponge and initiator, not a carry — and at complexity 1 with built-in sustain that forgives mistakes, he's the best hero to learn Deadlock's macro on.
Laning is Abrams' weak phase — he has no burst, so just farm clean. Last-hit and deny with the shotgun (9-round clip, point-blank is his whole range) and don't walk into open poke from Talon, Vindicta or Seven. Take 1 point in Shoulder Charge plus 1 in Infernal Resilience first: the charge is your engage/escape and the resilience turns trades into temp HP. The moment an enemy over-extends, charge them into the nearest wall for a free stun → heavy melee → point-blank shotgun. First buys are pure sustain: Extra Regen to stay topped between trades, Restorative Shot (buffed this patch) so a shotgun blast heals you, plus Close Quarters and Melee Lifesteal to make your point-blank pattern self-healing.
This is Abrams' spike. Max Siphon Life and Shoulder Charge and you become a real initiator: Charge → wall-pin stun → heavy melee → shotgun in their face. Rotate to every fight and dive the squishiest target — your job is to eat cooldowns and break the enemy formation so teammates farm the chaos. Buy Hollow Point and Berserker so the brawl actually scales your gun (your sustain keeps you above 65% HP, so Hollow Point stays on permanently, and Berserker grows every time you get shot). Split Bullet Armor and Spirit Armor for the spirit-heavy June meta, and grab Enduring Speed so kiters can't slow you off your target.
Late, Abrams is a near-unkillable frontline. Seismic Impact is your teamfight opener and peel — leap onto the clustered backline, ideally after a teammate's CC or with Unstoppable active so you can't be stunned out of the air. With Infernal Resilience, Siphon Life and tank capstones (Juggernaut, Soul Rebirth, Colossus) you out-survive everyone, which makes you the best body in the game to anchor the reworked king-of-the-hill Urn circle — you just stand in it and live. Crushing Fists turns your wall-pin into a heavy-melee nuke. The one rule: never chase kiters across open ground; pick your engages from cover.
Wall-pin combo: Shoulder Charge an enemy into terrain → stun → Heavy Melee (juiced by Crushing Fists / Melee Charge + Spirit Strike) → point-blank shotgun. The pin buys you the whole sequence, so hunt fights near walls and corridors. Ult lockdown: Seismic Impact already CCs on landing — stack Knockdown or Slowing Hex so the backline can't scatter, and pre-pop Unstoppable so you don't get stunned mid-leap. A recent patch lets Abrams use items during Seismic Impact: Majestic Leap mid-ult repositions where you slam to extend the engage (forum-flagged as maybe unintended, but it works on live). Get hit on purpose — Berserker, Escalating Resilience and Infernal Resilience all reward standing in the middle of the team, so being focused literally makes you stronger.
Pure sustain so a no-burst lane never punishes you. Restorative Shot heals off a shotgun blast, Close Quarters powers your point-blank range, Melee Lifesteal funds the heavy melee after a wall pin, and Spirit Strike adds cheap power to your charge and punches.
Make the brawl scale your gun. Hollow Point stays active because your sustain keeps you above 65% HP; Berserker grows as you take damage. Bullet and Spirit Armor make you the durable magnet, Enduring Speed beats slows, and Melee Charge supercharges the heavy melee off a pin.
Immortal frontline plus a wall-pin nuke. Crushing Fists and Point-Blank lock and delete targets in your face, Spiritual Overflow rewards staying in the brawl, and Juggernaut + Soul Rebirth make you the best body to anchor the Urn. Swap in Unstoppable before you engage so kiters can't peel you off.
Tech for the matchup. Toxic Bullets or Healbane shut down sustain comps (Lash, Bebop, Infernus). Metal Skin dives a gun-heavy backline, Slowing Hex / Knockdown / Phantom Strike lock down kiters like Vindicta and Talon, and Divine Barrier peels for you or a diving teammate.
Is Abrams good for beginners?
Yes — he's complexity 1 with no execution combos, and his built-in sustain forgives positioning mistakes. He's the best hero to learn Deadlock's macro and teamfighting on.
Weapon or spirit Abrams?
Gun-bruiser is the standard, stronger build: shotgun plus Hollow Point / Berserker plus tank items. A spirit 'slowburn' route (Mystic Burst, Torment Pulse, Improved Spirit) exists and scales late, but it's weaker and slower.
How do I land Seismic Impact?
Don't leap into a spread team. Use it after an engage or CC, or with Unstoppable active so you can't be stunned mid-air, aim the slam on a cluster, and value the disruption as much as the damage.
Did the −10 base HP patch kill Abrams?
No. Every hero lost 10 HP, and his resistances, temp-HP scaling and lifesteal keep him relatively tanky. Current data has him roughly A-tier at around 50–51% win rate.
Hard hitting, hard headed, and hard drinking; Detective Abrams has been a fixture on the New York investigating scene for years. From stolen art, to missing persons, to ritual murders; Abrams didn't just take any case that came across his desk... he solved them.
But his days of following cheating spouses came to an end the day he opened his office door and found The Tome sitting on his desk.
