When to buy & tricks

Close Quarters is a cheap Tier 1 weapon item that pumps your gun damage the closer you are to your target, and throws in some melee resist on top. It's the bread-and-butter first weapon buy for any hero whose damage happens in someone's face — shotgun and SMG brawlers — and it's worthless to long-range pokers and snipers who never close the gap.

When to buy

Buy it on heroes that fight up close and want to win the lane brawl: Abrams, Haze, Wraith, Bebop, McGinnis, Lash, Pocket. At 800 souls it's one of the most efficient early weapon picks for them — it pays off the moment you're hugging a target, and it later upgrades into Point Blank, so the slot never goes dead. Skip it entirely on range-dependent heroes like Grey Talon, Vindicta or Seven: the bonus is gated by distance, so a hero who poke-fights from across the lane gets almost nothing out of it.

Tricks & synergies

The bonus is strongest in their face and tapers off as the gap opens, so play it like a dive tool — close the distance, dump your clip point-blank, and don't expect value while you kite. The melee resist makes it a clean pairing with heavy-melee and wall-pin patterns (Abrams charging a target into a wall, anyone running a punch build). It also stacks naturally with the rest of the close-range package: Berserker, Hollow Point and melee lifesteal all reward the same standing-in-their-face playstyle.

Range-gated: full value point-blank, near-zero from across the lane. If your hero kites, skip it.
Don't sell it mid-game — it upgrades into Point Blank, so the early slot stays useful.
Great first weapon item on shotgun heroes to out-trade the lane.
The melee resist is free value for any heavy-punch or wall-pin build.

Is Close Quarters worth it?

On close-range brawlers, yes — it's one of the best 800-soul weapon buys and it builds into Point Blank. On snipers and poke heroes it's a wasted slot.

Does the damage bonus work at all ranges?

No. It's strongest right in your target's face and falls off as you back away, so it does nothing as a long-range poke item — only buy it if your gameplan is to close the distance.
