Pop Grit to throw up a quick Barrier the instant you start taking damage — a dirt-cheap early panic button that eats one burst and buys you the seconds to disengage or finish a trade. The souls aren't wasted later either, since it builds into Guardian Ward, Reactive Barrier and the Spirit/Weapon Shielding line.
