When to buy & tricks

Weighted Shots is the Tier 3 upgrade of Slowing Bullets, and it pulls double duty: a large weapon-damage boost plus the strongest move-and-dash slow in the gun tree. The damage isn't conditional like Point Blank's — it lands on every bullet — which is why it's a near-default late-game buy on sustained-fire carries who want to both out-DPS and out-leash their target.

When to buy

Buy it late, as one of your weapon power slots, once core farm is done and you want a single piece that adds real DPS and shuts down escapes. It shines on rapid-fire, close-to-mid heroes who keep bullets on target — the slow ramps the longer you hold the stream and the flat weapon damage rewards every shot. It carries a small self move-speed and stamina penalty, so it fits brawlers who stand and trade over hit-and-run skirmishers.

Tricks & synergies

Both the damage and the slow want you firing continuously, so pair it with magazine and fire-rate items and never reload mid-fight to drop the leash — Extended Magazine and Rapid Rounds feed it well. A target stuck at reduced move and dash distance can't dodge your team's heavy skillshots or peel out of an ult, so it sets up burst follow-up. And unlike Point Blank, the weapon bonus is unconditional, which makes it the cleaner DPS upgrade on heroes whose gun doesn't reliably cash in the close-range bonus.

The slow only ramps while you keep landing shots — strafe with the target and hold the stream, don't burst-and-peek.
Hard counter to dash- and slide-heavy escape heroes; the dash-distance cut shortens their getaway on top of the move slow.
Mind the self move-speed and stamina hit — it favors brawlers who hold ground, not kiters.
Stack it with magazine and fire-rate so a reload never lets a slowed target slip the leash.

Is Weighted Shots worth it?

On a sustained-fire gun hero, almost always — you get a big unconditional weapon-damage bump and the strongest gun slow in one slot, which is why its pick rate sits near the top of weapon items. Slow-firing pure-burst weapons get less, since both the damage value and the slow buildup reward staying on target.

Weighted Shots or Point Blank?

Weighted Shots when you want reliable damage everywhere plus lockdown — its weapon bonus applies whether you're point-blank or not. Point Blank gives a bigger spike but only while you hug the target, so on heroes that don't cash that close-range value cleanly, Weighted Shots can out-DPS it for the same kind of slot.
