Spirit Rend
Your bullets apply a debuff that reduces the Spirit Resist of the target and grants you and your allies Spirit Lifesteal against them.
Landing headshots against the target reduces their Spirit Resist further.
Passive — works automatically once bought.
Spirit Rend is the Tier 3 upgrade to Spirit Shredder Bullets: your gunfire still tags enemies with a Spirit Resist debuff and grants spirit lifesteal, but now every headshot drives the shred deeper — stack it and the target's spirit defenses cave in. It also bundles bonus health, so it pulls weight as a stat slot too. Slot it on gun-and-cast hybrids with real aim whose abilities (or a teammate's) cash in the opened resist.
When to buy
Buy it when Spirit Shredder Bullets stops being enough and you want the resist hole to go deeper and faster. It's strongest on hybrids who keep a gun on target and land headshots — McGinnis, Mo & Krill, Seven, Bebop, Vindicta — then follow up with spirit damage themselves or hand the marked target to a spirit-heavy team. The +75 health is real value that the component lacked, so the slot is never dead weight even on a slow turn. Skip it on pure bullet carries with no spirit in the kit or on the team — the shred and lifesteal only pay off when someone is actually dealing spirit damage to the debuffed target.
How to use it
The base bullet hit applies the Spirit Resist shred, but headshots add extra stacks on top — so aim for the head and the same target loses far more resist than a body-spray would peel. Tag the priority enemy, stack the debuff up, then dump your casts (or let your spirit casters dump theirs) while the hole is open. It's a clean answer to enemies stacking Spirit Armor: peeling their resist back claws away the souls they paid for survivability. The spirit lifesteal is granted to you and allies hitting the marked target, so in drawn-out fights it doubles as cheap team sustain — keep shooting, everyone heals off the spirit damage.
Spirit Rend or Spirit Shredder Bullets?
Take the component (Spirit Shredder Bullets) for an early, cheap shred and upgrade to Spirit Rend once you have souls to spare. Rend adds bonus health, more spirit lifesteal, and the headshot-stacking that drives the resist hole far deeper — worth it on a hero that hits heads and the team that punishes the opening.
Does Spirit Rend boost my gun damage?
No. It's a weapon item by slot, but the payoff is all on the spirit side: it lowers the target's Spirit Resist and grants spirit lifesteal, plus flat health. Your bullets are just the delivery system for the debuff — they don't hit any harder themselves.
