Draw a sigil sphere in front of you and then leap backwards as it explodes, damaging and slowing enemies caught in it.
Prepare to deflect the next incoming attack. On a successful deflection, briefly become invulnerable and target an enemy hero to dash towards them, stunning them and reducing their Melee Resist. Press Ability 2 to select a target. Does not trigger against trooper or neutral damage.
Perform a series of lunges in any direction, delivering piercing stabs ahead of you. Hold your ability key to time your attacks, dealing more damage the longer it's held. Releasing your attack during the perfect window deals maximum damage. Press Ability 3 to re-cast.
Charge up and perform a long range slash. Struck enemies cannot take action or heal and are stuck in slow motion. When this effect expires, they suffer devastating damage, dealing bonus damage against half-health enemies. While in slow motion, Apollo is invulnerable and enemies take reduced damage. Hold Ability 4 or Attack to delay the cast.
Apollo is a finesse melee duelist who fences with a blade and treats his Spreadshot as a top-up, not a win condition. His job is to isolate one hero, eat their swing with Riposte, stun them and chain a Flawless Advance burst into a kill, then reset with his mobility. He's a snowballing pick-machine for players who like reads and clean execution — squishy and unforgiving if you mistime the parry, very rewarding when you don't.
Lane as a calculated trader, not a gun-duelist — the Spreadshot loses raw trades, so use it mainly to last-hit and deny. Poke from safety with Disengaging Sigil: it damages, slows and leaps you backward out of the return. Hold Riposte for their committed swing or key ability rather than pre-firing it; good opponents wait for your telegraph, so bait with a light melee or a few pellets, then punish. Only all-in once a Sigil slow lands. He farms jungle poorly this early, so prioritize lane souls. First buys are cheap spirit and sustain — Mystic Burst, Extra Spirit and a Healing Rite to win the poke war.
Apollo spikes hard once Cold Front, Torment Pulse and a cooldown item come online — now every ability cast shields you and slows the area while Torment Pulse chips anyone in melee range. Start rotating: gap-close with Flawless Advance, find an isolated hero, Riposte their peel and chain the kill. Superior Cooldown is the key timing here because it shaves the long Riposte cooldown and gives you more Flawless charges per fight. Always keep one Flawless charge in reserve — it lunges in any direction, so it's your escape as much as your engage.
Late, Apollo is a full spirit assassin and flank threat. In teamfights you don't face-tank — you pick angles, ult a key carry to freeze them out of the fight (or pop it to dodge an incoming ult), then Flawless-burst and clean up. Boundless Spirit, Escalating Exposure and Mystic Reverb make repeated lunges compound: each stab ramps your spirit amp and Reverb adds an AoE nuke plus slow. Ethereal Shift is your second invuln button to dodge a combo and re-engage. Your win condition is the same as it always was — delete one target, reset, repeat.
Slow then perfect lunge: land Disengaging Sigil's slow first, then Flawless Advance — a slowed target is far easier to nail on the perfect-release window for maximum spirit damage. The Riposte flip is his signature 1v1 turnaround: hold Riposte into expected burst or melee, the invuln eats it, then dash-stun with Melee Resist down and immediately Flawless-burst while they're locked. Use Itani Lo Sahn as an execute, not an opener — soften the target below half HP with Sigil and melee first, because the delayed detonation deals bonus damage to sub-half-HP enemies and the freeze stops them healing or dispelling. It also passes through geometry and makes you invulnerable, so it doubles as a panic dodge. Imbue Mystic Reverb on Flawless Advance and pair Spirit Lifesteal to heal through brawls; Echo Shard lets you double-Riposte for a second invuln or double-Itani for a second execute in one fight.
Cheap spirit poke and sustain to win the trade war. Mystic Burst and Spirit Strike fuel your Sigil and melee hits, Extra Spirit scales the whole kit, and Healing Rite (or Extra Regen) keeps you topped through pokes. Headshot Booster props up the weak Spreadshot for last-hits and denies.
Your power spike. Cold Front shields and slows on every cast, Torment Pulse adds passive AoE at melee range, Superior Cooldown buys more Riposte and Flawless uptime, and Reactive Barrier is the survival item against the burst he's so weak to. Improved Spirit keeps the damage scaling.
Full spirit carry. Boundless Spirit is your core stat brick, Escalating Exposure ramps amp on repeated stabs, and Mystic Reverb imbued on Flawless Advance turns each lunge into an AoE nuke and slow. Ethereal Shift is a second invuln/cleanse to survive the dive, with Spirit Burn or Focus Lens to seal picks.
Anti-CC and lockdown picks. Slowing Hex and Knockdown shut off Flawless Advance, so Debuff Reducer and Spellbreaker are huge into heavy CC; Spirit Resilience handles spirit-burst lanes. Phantom Strike is a clean teleport-disarm into melee burst, Echo Shard double-casts your big buttons, and Decay breaks sustain targets you want to execute.
Weapon or spirit Apollo?
Spirit, every time. The Spreadshot is a finisher and last-hit tool — all his damage, slows and burst scale with Spirit Power and cooldown reduction. Don't build a gun core.
Is Apollo good for beginners?
Not really. The client rates him 2/5, but parry reads, perfect-window timing and squishy positioning make him execution-heavy. High skill ceiling, high reward — not a first hero.
How do I survive as Apollo?
Itemize against CC. Slowing Hex and Knockdown shut off Flawless Advance, so Debuff Reducer, Reactive Barrier, Spellbreaker and Ethereal Shift keep you alive. Pick your angles and never face-tank.
What is Apollo strong and weak into?
He bullies squishy, dive-reliant heroes like Holliday, Shiv and Mirage that he can parry and pick. He struggles into sustained spirit-burst — Seven, Haze and Ivy — and anyone packing Slowing Hex, Knockdown or Silence.
A land of beauty, tradition and conflict; North Ixia is no stranger to brutal political violence. So when Apollo was told that it was for his own safety he was being sent to New York for school, he knew the situation was serious.
Adjusting to life at Blackmore Academy didn’t come easy to Apollo. His school was supposed to be filled with The Cursed Apple’s best and brightest but all he saw, with few exceptions, was a sea of aggressive mediocrity. Electing not to waste his time with frivolous things like parties and dances, he instead put his energy on the piste, where he rigorously trains as captain of the Blackmore fencing team.
