Ivy has disruptive combat tricks that slow and stun enemies. She's most effective when linking up with an ally, empowering her and her ally's guns as well as sharing heals.

Summon a patch of choking thorns that damage and slows enemies in its radius.
Connect with a nearby ally to gain bonuses, replicated healing, and ignore the move speed penalty while shooting. Receive 50% of Bonuses with no connection Connection requires line of sight.
Turn yourself into impervious stone and smash into the ground, stunning and damaging enemies nearby. Heals you for a percentage of your max health.
Grab an ally and take flight with them. Drop your ally to cause an explosion, dealing Spirit Damage. You and your ally gain increased Outgoing Damage when flying ends. Cooldown reduced by 25% when used on allies. Taking damage briefly disables using the ability. While lifted, your ally cannot attack and deals -20% damage.
Ivy is a carry-enabling tempo disruptor: she links to your best ally with Kudzu Connection to share buffs and replicated heals, slows clumps with Entangling Thorns, panic-buttons dives with Stone Form, and flies allies into fights with Air Drop. Your win condition is keeping the linked carry alive and shooting through long fights while you slow, peel and dictate map movement. She's marked complexity 3 but the skill floor is low — she stays useful even when behind, which makes her a forgiving pick that still carries.
Rapid Fire is a last-hit and deny machine — its huge clip and long 7000 range let you secure souls, snipe denies and chunk the Guardian from safety. That farm and tempo lead is your real early edge, because your raw burst is weak until items. Drop Entangling Thorns to zone the wave and slow anyone who steps up, then layer gun damage on the slowed target. Stone Form is your 'oh no' button: petrify through a gank, heal off max HP, then smash for the stun once it's safe. The 05-22 patch shaved 10 base HP off everyone, so a cheap Extra Health or Healing Rite early is worth more than usual. Play one step behind your lane partner and let your farm snowball.
Your power window opens around 6:00 with Tesla Bullets — its arcs proc off Ivy's absurd fire rate, so camp clear, wave clear and teamfight chip all explode. Capacitor is the second spike that turns your tiny per-bullet damage into a real threat. Now start sticking to your tether target, use Air Drop (one early point is plenty for rotations) to gank lanes and contest objectives, and hunt Stone Form stun openings. Keep Bullet Resist Shredder applied through your fire rate so the whole team's bullets land harder. This is where Ivy flips from farmer to tempo dictator.
Late, Ivy is the glue plus a tanky, sustained-DPS body. Tether your strongest carry so they soak your buffs and replicated heals, Air Drop allies onto the objective (they land with the outgoing-damage buff), and zone chokes with thorns. The longer a fight runs, the more your shared heals win it — so survive the dive with Stone Form, Spirit Resilience, Colossus and Diviner's Kevlar, then keep firing. Contest the reworked king-of-the-hill Urn by Air-Dropping a body straight onto the circle. You rarely get the killing blow; you make sure your carry does.
Tether-and-strafe: Kudzu Connection removes the move-speed penalty while shooting, so you can strafe at full speed dumping rapid-fire while your carry shares your Capacitor and Tesla buffs. Thorns into bullets: slow a clump with Entangling Thorns, then full-auto plus Tesla arcs melt them — drop the thorns on an escape route during a kill. Air Drop opener: fly an ally for the explosion and outgoing-damage buff, then immediately Stone Form on landing to stun and heal — a burst initiate that also peels for you. Stone Form dodges ults: petrify through a Haze ult or burst dive, then smash for the stun once it's clear. Echo Shard gives back-to-back thorns or two Stone Form stuns; Refresher buys a second Air Drop — but note Refresher is currently buggy with Air Drop's tier-2 slow, so don't rely on the slow re-fire.
You have a statistical edge into Yamato, Lash, Bebop and Billy — kite their commits with slows and dodge the payoff with Stone Form. You struggle into Rem, Infernus and Vyper, plus high-mobility chasers and anti-heal: Abrams runs through your slows and his anti-heal gut-checks your sustain identity, while Haze and Wraith can burst you before the tether matters. For synergy, give the tether and Air Drop to Graves (+5.2%), Victor (+4.7%) or McGinnis (+4.7%) — they're your strongest passengers.
Turn Rapid Fire into effortless waveclear and Guardian poke, with farm bonus and lane sustain. Spirit Strike heals when Entangling Thorns hits, and Extra Health covers the −10 base-HP patch.
The gun spike. Tesla Bullets (~6:00) arcs off her fire rate, Capacitor ramps gun power, Titanic Magazine keeps you firing through brawls, and Bullet Resist Shredder is trivial to apply for team-wide amp.
Carry-enabler and brawl body. Siphon Bullets tanks and damages off constant fire, Colossus and Diviner's Kevlar let you survive Air-Drop dives, and Escalating Exposure ramps amp for you and your tether.
Slot in by matchup: Ethereal Shift to bail a bad Air Drop, Debuff Reducer vs heavy CC, Healbane vs sustain like Abrams, Cold Front for buffed AoE slow, or Improved Spirit + Echo Shard for the double-CC caster pivot.
Is Ivy good for beginners?
Yes. She's A-tier and forgiving — Stone Form is a panic button, the gun farms consistently, and she stays useful even when behind. She's listed as complexity 3 but the skill floor is low.
Weapon or spirit Ivy?
Gun-tempo is the stronger solo-queue line right now after two spring 2026 spirit nerfs. Build Tesla Bullets (~6:00), Capacitor and Titanic Magazine, and take spirit only for utility. Caster Ivy with Improved Spirit and Echo Shard is a coordinated/support pick.
How do you play Air Drop well?
Take one early point for rotations and max it last. Use it to reposition allies into fights, contest the Urn, escape a lost fight, or open with the explosion and outgoing-damage buff — just don't take damage mid-cast, which briefly disables it.
Who should I tether with Kudzu Connection?
Your best carry. She synergizes hardest with Graves, Victor and McGinnis — give them the tether and the Air Drop, keep line of sight, and they soak your buffs and replicated heals.
The gargoyle didn't know what was happening when it sprang to life... just that a big human and a small human were being hurt. And so the gargoyle leapt to action, sending the attackers fleeing in horror. The small human said thank you and asked the gargoyle's name. The gargoyle didn't have one. And so the small human said, "I'm going to call you Ivy." The gargoyle, being covered in ivy at the time, thought it was a bit obvious, but decided to go along with it for the small human's sake.
The humans asked if Ivy would come home with them so they could show their appreciation, and so Ivy walked with them. That night she learned much. The family were called The Arroyo's. The little one, Sophia. Mofongo is what they called a plate of deliciousness. But most importantly, she learned that the people attacking them were called "The Mendoza Syndicate", and they were hurting people...nice people like The Arroyo's.
